The Taunton Area Vietnam Veterans Association will be holding their annual POW/MIA Day on March 27th on Church Green at 12 noon.

Latest count on those still missing in South East Asia is 1624 and 39 from our State. This hasn’t changed in a very long time, too long. Thankfully many from WWII and Korea have been returned.

This year for our main speaker we have invited Cappy Capozzoli from Rolling Thunder Boston Chapter I. They are very active with the POW/MIA issue.

We would like to invite all to our Ceremony! We realize it is Easter Sunday, but we hope that people can take an hour of their time to remember those that haven’t come back home!

Violence in any form, toward any person, is unacceptable

Get Involved! Be the Solution!

Chasing the Dream...Brainstorming for Peace

MLK Day, January 20, 2014

Monday, January 20th, 2014

1:00 to 3:00 pm

The Taunton Violence Prevention Task Force & St. Thomas Church invite the community to come to-gether in honor of Rev. Martin Lu-ther King, Jr., to sit down together and “brainstorm” for non-violent, protective solutions to community concerns.

Discussion tables will include youth & adults. Time frame: 10 minutes & then the youth will rotate to the next table

& repeat this for one hour.

Discussion Points:

1) What do you see as the biggest

problem(s) related to violence in any form in your neighborhood, school, community, etc.? 2) What non-violence solution could address these problems? 3) What education/awareness needs to be done for you & your neighbor-hood, school, community, etc,? 4) What resources are available to as-sist with solutions? What's missing?

The event is open to anyone, all ages, young & older. Form a team! Wear school or team col-ors! We sincerely hope that the city of Taunton will use this event to honor the spirit of non-violence that Dr. King so cherished.

Light refreshments will be served. Questions?

Thank you for your Sponsorship and joining us in our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach!

Please note that all sponsorships are sent directly to the location and no wreaths are sent to the individuals purchasing sponsorships.

In 2007, the Worcester family, along with veterans, and others who had helped with their annual Christmas wreath ceremony in Arlington, formed Wreaths Across America™, to continue and expand this effort, and support other groups around the country who wanted to do the same.  This nonprofit organization continues the Arlington tradition as part of its mission to Remember, Honor and teach.

In 2012, Wreaths Across America and our national network of volunteers laid over 420,000 memorial wreaths at over 800 locations in the United States and beyond. We accomplished this with help from 1382 fundraising groups, many corporate contributions, and donations of trucking, shipping, and thousands of helping hands.  Our annual pilgrimage from Harrington, Maine  to Arlington National Cemetery is known as the world’s largest veteran’s parade, stopping at schools, monuments, veteran’s homes and communities all along the way to remind people how important it is to remember, honor and teach.

Proceeds place a wreath at one of the participating cemeteries; help support our fundraising partners, educational and veteran’s services outreach.  Please note that all sponsorships are sent directly to the location and no wreaths are sent to the individuals purchasing sponsorships.

We welcome all to join us at any Wreaths Across America ceremony.  If you would like to participate or help bring sponsored wreaths to your local community, please contact us and we will help connect you with other groups already working in your area.

Prestige Car Wash Honors Our Veterans this November

Prestige Car Wash - the area’s premier car wash company – is pleased to announce they are joining the 2013 Grace for Vets, a non-profit, international organization which unites the car wash industry each year on Veterans Day. The program honors all veterans and service personnel by offering a free car wash.

On Monday November 11, Prestige Car Wash invites all those who have served or are serving our country to any one of their locations for a free exterior wash. In order to receive a free wash, the individual simply tells an attendant they are a veteran or member of the armed forces. No proof of veteran or personnel status is necessary.

“This is a small way of saying thank you to the men and women who sacrifice so much to protect our country” says Ronen Drory, owner of Prestige Car Wash. “We are proud to participate in Grace for Vets. We are looking forward to welcoming veterans to our facility and showing them that Prestige appreciates all they do for us.”

Grace for Vets is a non-profit organization honoring those who have served or are currently serving their country. Founded in 2004, the program has grown from a small handful of car washes to several thousand throughout four countries today. For more information on the organization or to register as a participant, visit www.graceforvets.org.

With three Massachusetts locations, Prestige Car Wash services include car washing, gas, and pet washing. Recognized as the car wash experts in the greater Boston area, Prestige utilizes the finest car care products and energy efficient technology, including water-recycling and water conservation equipment. For more information, visit the website at www.prestigewash.com or call 508-499-WASH (9274). For information on the Prestige VIP Unlimited program, call 508-444-2425.
